Life Long Learners

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow.

Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Today was the second last class of this session. Next Monday, we will enjoy a potluck lunch at the beginning of the final class as we usually do. Yum!

I am so impressed with the 6 ladies in our Monday afternoon class. They are all lifelong learners. They don't shy away from trying new things.

Below is what I believe to be this artist's first chalk-pastel. She chose a tricky reference photo to start with. This might become her medium. She's doing a great job of rendering the froth on the waves.

It is a joy to watch artists grasp a new medium and run with it. Notice the nice shadow to the right of the bowl? Perfect.

We're rounding the corner on a challenging subject below. Today, we viewed this painting's 4 options. It's one of those paintings that really doesn't have a top or a bottom. Try turning your screen around to see what it looks like from each angle. Each one has a different feel to it.

Trying new things below: painting her husband in front of an art installation at the Distillery District in TO. Why not? Some of us are suckers for punishment. 🥴

It's going to look great.

And, for our finale - gold! Next week, this artist will have the proper adhesive and she will be experimenting with gold leaf to finish off her painting.

I may need to try that myself some day.

“I believe that everything happens for a reason.

People change so that you can learn to let go,

things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right,

you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself,

and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

Marilyn Monroe
