Well, I was looking for a challenge and this painting has lived up to my expectations. The trick is to preserve the white of the paper. I think I succeeded on the top right milkweed flower. Now I need to concentrate to preserve as much white as I need to make the bottom flower look three-dimensional and to look like it is closer to the viewer than the other flowers.
I've also darkened the bottom right leaf and need to darken the top leaves yet. They look too insignificant right now.

Reminder: Even though we call our classes 'watercolour classes', they are comprised of new watercolour artists, returning and experienced watercolour artists, and new and returning graphite pencil and chalk-pastel artists. It's interesting how much we can learn from each other and from artists working in other mediums. Plus, we have a lot of fun!
